5 engg students drown in Mahi, four bodies found

The students were aged between 20 and 24 years.Police said that while taking a swim, the five ventured into deep waters and started drowning. While Ashwin decided to stay back on the bank, five others went into the river.All were residents of Malpur taluka in Aravalli district. Police said that some locals immediately jumped in the river to save them, but they had already drowned by then.Bodies of Krunal, Prajesh, Dhruv and Ishan were fished out by locals and firemen. According to sources, Krunal had recently finished his engineering, while Trushit and Prajesh were pursuing civil engineering from Tatva College in Modasa and BSc from Vallabh Vidyanagar. Their bodies were taken to Lunawada for post-mortem.

Vadodara: Five students from Aravalli district drowned in Mahisagar River at Degamda village in Mahisagar district on Sunday afternoon.Locals and firemen fished out bodies of four students till late Sunday evening.A group of six friends – Krunal Patel, Prajesh Patel, Dhruv Patel, Ishan Patel, Trushit Patel and Ashwin Patel – had gone to Degamda village to take bath in the river since it was the 11th day of holy ‘Purushottam Maas’ of Hindu calendar. While Ashwin decided to stay back on the bank, five others went into the river.All were residents of Malpur taluka in Aravalli district. Police said that some locals immediately jumped in the river to save them, but they had already drowned by then.Bodies of Krunal, Prajesh, Dhruv and Ishan were fished out by locals and firemen. Their bodies were taken to Lunawada for post-mortem. According to sources, Krunal had recently finished his engineering, while Trushit and Prajesh were pursuing civil engineering from Tatva College in Modasa and BSc from Vallabh Vidyanagar. Sources said that excpet Trushit, all four were the only child of their parents.Police officials said that a team of NDRF from Vadodara will reach Degamda on Monday to search the body of Trushit. A case of accidental death was registered at Lunawada police station.
