NCERT to focus on research and development of edu tools

"We are working on developing curriculum for various age groups and to facilitate better learning. Focus will be given on research in improving the education system," said director of NCERT Hrushikesh Senapati . He was speaking at the alumni meet of Demonstration Multipurpose School , one of the oldest school of the city here on Sunday.NCERT will collaborate with DMS to come up with new spheres of education, said Senapati. "The school has been a major help in implementing the NCERT policies and curriculum over the years. There are many long standing demands of the school, which are under active consideration of the council."The school was set up in 1964 under Regional Institute of Education (RIE) set up by NCERT, which was first of its kind in the country to implement the model NCERT course from class I to XII. More than 500 alumni have participated in the meet and the theme of the event was 'Back to School'.Union oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stone of an auditorium in the school premises. "We must not forget the alma matter and always stay connected and work towards brining developmental reforms time to time."Union economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das, who is also an alumni of the school said, "It feels great to be back in school. The event has been aptly named as Back to School and gives a feeling of nostalgia."The alumni association formed a corpus fund of Rs 20 lakh, which will be spent for the development of the school. "The school has a glorious past and ambitious future. The school has produced many notable alumni who have made the state and the country proud," said president of the alumni association Rajib Sekhar Sahoo.Odia actor Archita, who was also an alumnus, was the major attractions of the event.
