Silinga, Chamoli: In the picturesque hills of Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, an inspiring story of transformation unfolds as Prof. S K Palhan, emeritus Professor, Great Lakes Business School and the President, Media 4 Community Foundation along with a dedicated team of volunteers including a senior media professional Alok Verma, has been leading an initiative in Independent Social Responsibility that has been changing lives since 2012.
Prof. Palhan, known for his commitment to social and educational causes, has been a driving force behind the project, which has seen the establishment of computer labs, enrichment of libraries, and upgrade of school furniture in over 10 schools so far in the region.
Recently, Prof. Palhan was joined by a senior media professional and founder of NYOOOZ.COM Mr. Alok Verma as a volunteer and students from Srijan School, Delhi, on a six-day project trip to remote villages in Chamoli district. This trip marked a significant milestone in the ongoing effort since 2013 to support underprivileged school children and schools in disadvantaged areas of the hilly region.
Generous donations from friends and supporters, have enabled Prof. Palhan to donate computers, books, furniture, and more to these schools, enhancing their infrastructure and improving the quality of education provided.
During the visit, Mr. Verma and the team from Srijan School under the guidance of Prof. Palhan engaged with local children, imparting skills in crafts, music, computers, communication, and science practicals, enriching their educational experience and opening doors to new possibilities.
In addition to his hands-on involvement with the children, Prof. Palhan and Mr Verma conducted training workshops for local teachers, equipping them with new tools and techniques to enhance their teaching practices. Mr. Verma also engaged with youth, addressing their queries regarding future opportunities and providing valuable guidance.
Mr Verma also took the time to meet with local entrepreneurs, offering insights into small-scale business opportunities and inspiring them to explore new avenues for growth and development.
The impact of Prof. Pathan`s contributions and the project as a whole cannot be overstated. It is a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives and the difference that individuals like Prof. Palhan can make in the lives of others.
