RUDRAPUR: The 1000m long Kashipur-Rudrapur flyover on the Kashipur-Sitarganj National Highway 74 that connects Gava Chowk to Alliance Colony was thrown open to motorists as part of a trial run on Wednesday. This is the first flyover to be inaugurated in the city.The four-lane flyover missed several deadlines and took two years to complete at the cost of Rs 52 crore.While inaugurating the flyover, project director NHAI, Ajay Vishnoi, said, "We are looking into building more flyovers and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (PWD) have been asked to make an action plan for the same."The local residents, who had often complained about problems arising out of the construction work at the flyover, were relieved. Samit Gava , who owns an office at Officer''s stop market near the flyover, said, "This area was dug up for ages and the construction work was contributing to traffic. Many people avoided visiting this part of the town as they feared getting stuck in traffic. I am happy that the flyover has finally been completed."
