Integrated mandal-wise weather bulletin soon

Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) of the Planning Department would be coming out with an integrated mandal-wise weather bulletin with precise information about wind, temperature, rainfall, humidity, soil moisture, and radiation, in close coordination with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Department of Economics and Statistics. Krishna Murthy urged various departments, universities, and research institutes to make use of the space data for data analytics for better applications in various fields. Climate dataThe manual rain gauges of the Economics and Statistics Department too would be integrated into the system.

Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) of the Planning Department would be coming out with an integrated mandal-wise weather bulletin with precise information about wind, temperature, rainfall, humidity, soil moisture, and radiation, in close coordination with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Department of Economics and Statistics. There were 885 automatic weather stations of the TSDPS up to the mandal level, whereas the IMD had around 60 stations spread across the State. “We are converging data instead of having separate bulletins for better weather forecast for agriculture operations, urban flooding, and disaster management,” said Shaik Meera, chief executive officer of TSDPS, here on Wednesday. At a one-day workshop on ‘extreme weather events with reference to Telangana State’ organised by the TSDPS, Mr. Meera said 80 more automatic weather stations would be installed in the 125 new mandals which came into being after the formation of new districts. Climate data The manual rain gauges of the Economics and Statistics Department too would be integrated into the system. Climate data was being collected round-the-clock and disseminated to district Collectors and other senior officials through text alerts. Mr. Meera said there would soon be district-wise weather bulletins, and electronic glow signboards would be installed at all Collectorates indicating the prevailing weather condition and forecast. The TSDPS website would also be continuously streaming live temperature for the entire State. Heatwave visualisation Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has taken up a study to prepare a national-level database on heatwave visualisation on the interactive Bhuvan platform, which could be utilised by various departments and organisations for disaster management, said deputy director, earth and climate science area, National Remote Sensing Centre/ISRO, M.V.R. Sesha Sai. NRSC/ISRO director Y.V.N. Krishna Murthy urged various departments, universities, and research institutes to make use of the space data for data analytics for better applications in various fields.
