Konkan Railway to operate 202 special trains for Ganesha Chaturthi

SubrahmanyamThe Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd., (KRCL) is operating 202 trips of special trains during Ganesha Chaturthi in coordination with Central, Western and Southern Railways from Mumbai, Pune, Ajni, Ahmedabad to Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi, Zarap, Pernem, Thivim, Madgaon and Mangaluru. For additional security, one company of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) has been deployed along with RPF staff for crowd control and maintaining law and order. The RPF staff from other regions of KRCL have also been mobilised and deployed at major station in the Ratnagiri section. Further, RPF staff have also been sensitised to respond quickly to messages received through Twitter and the all-India security helpline 182 in case of security-related problems.

It has also attached additional coaches to Ganapati Special trains this year owing to which the passenger carrying capacity of these trains are more than last year. Intensive ticket checking will be done at stations and in trains to curb unauthorised passengers. All catering establishments are directed to operate extra tables/mobile trolleys to cater to passengers. They are instructed to keep sufficient janata khana and drinking water at their stalls. The corporation has opened medical check-up booths at important stations like Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi with the State health authorities. For additional security, one company of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) has been deployed along with RPF staff for crowd control and maintaining law and order. The RPF staff from other regions of KRCL have also been mobilised and deployed at major station in the Ratnagiri section. Totally, 207 RPF and home guards personnel have been deployed for security arrangements. Further, RPF staff have also been sensitised to respond quickly to messages received through Twitter and the all-India security helpline 182 in case of security-related problems. To further bolster the manpower, 60 home guards have been deployed to assist RPF.
