Mangaluru: The BJP election office at Bunts’ Hostel was all smiles as the party supporters, who flocked the premises to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address, seemed content with his answers that were laced with a heavy dose of wit.Though no representative from Mangaluru was scheduled to ask the Prime Minister a question, many of his supporters seemingly resonated with the questions posed by supporters across the country during the #MainBhiChowkidar programme on Sunday evening. As Modi explained the rationale behind the slew of initiatives undertaken by him, the crowd was hooked to the large screen, and clapped in unison to the answers that appealed to them the most.Mutalib Belme, a supporter of the prime minister, said it was the path of development treaded by Modi that drew him towards the BJP, and due to which he would cast his vote for the saffron party this time. “There is nothing above the country and I am content with the intent shown by the current dispensation at the Centre in this regard,” he said.Earlier, Sunil Kumar, election in-charge for BJP Dakshina Kannada, appealed to everyone present to work for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s victory in the Lok Sabha election.A representative from Bengaluru sought an answer from Modi as to when India would become a developed country. In response, the Prime Minister said the country should already have become a developed country by now, “if we had visionary leaders”, adding that countries that got Independence after India had progressed more. “We are capable of becoming a permanent member of the UN security council. When the BJP came to power, we were the world’s 11th largest economy. Today we have risen to the 6th position. We need to make India a 5 trillion dollar economy,” he said.
