24 areas cleaned during Swachh Abhiyan

Students of St. Aloysius College did not lag behind in joining hands with the organisers for the drive and cleaned Karangalpadi area. BENGALURU - KARNATAKA - 20/03/2017 : An elderly lady joins hands in Swatch Mangaluru Abhiyan of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt during the 24th week drive at Kavoor in Mangaluru on Sunday. | Photo Credit: TH more-in The Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan being undertaken by Ramakrishna Mutt witnessed 24 cleanliness drives across the city during its 24th week on Sunday. Sunday’s drive witnessed participation of police personnel from Mangaluru South (Pandeshwar) Police Station, staff of Forum Fiza Mall, among others, in cleaning the surroundings. As a result, not only the premises of these buildings, but also roads around them got cleaned. Members of Kumar Gym Friends and others, who had been cleaning the pillars of Kottara Chowki Flyover since two days, gave a fresh coat of paint to them. Along with painting, they also inscribed messages about environment protection and a clean India. Kavoor Junction, which is the gateway to Mangaluru International Airport and surrounding areas, were cleared of garbage, banners and buntings by several volunteers thereby offering a pleasant travel experience along the stretch to those going to the airport. Members of Friends For Ever cleaned Airport Road in Yeyyadi and surrounding areas. Mangalanagar, Mankay Stand and surrounding areas were cleaned by members of Sri Sharada Mahila Vrinda. Members of Garodi Youth made efforts to clean Pumpwell (Bhagavan Mahaveer) Circle, where a flyover is being built. They also cleaned the Pumpwell-Kankanadi Road during the process. On the other hand, members of Dakshina Kannada Havyaka Sabha cleaned the surroundings of Nanthoor even as many of them undertook door-to-door campaign to spread the Swachh Bharat message. While students from Government First Grade College, Car Street, undertook cleanliness drive on Car Street and surrounding areas, members of Sri Subrahmanya Sabha cleared Bejai Church Road and Kodialguthu of waste and garbage. Students of St. Aloysius College did not lag behind in joining hands with the organisers for the drive and cleaned Karangalpadi area. The drive also saw the cleaning of Ganeshapura, Yekkur, Bolara, Chembugudde, Falnir, Merlapadavu, Airport Road near Karnataka Polytechnic, Goods Shed Road, Konaje, Derebail, Ashoknagar, Padil and Kondana areas in and around Mangaluru.
