'JeM letter' threatens to blow up DM, commissioner’s residence

MEERUT: A letter allegedly from members of Jaish-e-Mohammad has threatened to blow up Meerut district magistrate and commissioner's residences. The letter, which was received by police on Monday, also claimed that JeM members were hiding in Meerut's Topkhana area. Talking to TOI, Chandrakala, said, " Meerut SSP is looking into the matter and checking its seriousness. "We have received a letter which is apparently written by members of Jaish-e-Mohammad. I haven't read the letter as of yet so cannot comment on its content."

The letter, which was received by police on Monday, also claimed that JeM members were hiding in Meerut's Topkhana area."We have received a letter which is apparently written by members of Jaish-e-Mohammad. Prima facie, it looks like it is hoax and may have been written by some locals who want to create tension. But since it concerns the security of the district, we have increased police presence and are investigating how serious the matter is," said Meerut SSP J Ravindra Goud The letter, a copy of which is with TOI, has been addressed to district magistrate B Chandrakala. Talking to TOI, Chandrakala, said, " Meerut SSP is looking into the matter and checking its seriousness. I haven't read the letter as of yet so cannot comment on its content."
