BIJNOR: As the newly elected BJP government cracks whip on illegal slaughter houses, members of Hindu Yuva Vahini have suddenly swung into action. While most of the meat shops remained closed on Wednesday, members of the youth group could be seen moving around the city to ensure that no illegal shops are open. They also submitted a memorandum to SDM demanding closure of meat and liquor shops near river Ganga.A delegation led by the group’s district president Neeraj Visnoi met SDM Anuj Singh and alleged that some people are running wine and meat shops near the holy river and are polluting it. “The waste is thrown near river Ganga. Besides, the liquor shops in the vicinity also hamper peace. Drunk men can be seen quarrelling near the ghat. The Ganga is holy and therefore, no liquor or meat should be sold here,” the members said in a memorandum.“A delegation of Hindu Yuva Vahini met me on Wednesday. They handed over a memorandum and demanded that all illegal meat shops should be closed. In addition to this, they asked to remove wine shops from the barrage. I have assured them that their demands will be met,” said the SDM.Interestingly, the members are preparing a list of places where meat and liquor are sold illegally. So far, the police have shut two slaughter houses in the district.Hindu Yuva Vahini is a Hindu youth group founded by chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi.
