Bedi urges PRTC staff to keep service level high

As a first step, training on road safety will be organised in consultation with Institute of Road Safety Training Education and Puducherry Traffic Police. Governor Kiran Bedi on Tuesday urged employees of the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) to keep satisfactory passenger experience at the core of their functioning. Ms. Bedi, who had interactions with PRTC employees at the PRTC headquarters, said that every PRTC employee, irrespective of whether he/she is a bus driver or a conductor was in a sense an ambassador of Puducherry. Ms. Bedi asked the employees to provide feedback to P. Devarajan, PRTC Managing Director so that course content could be tailored to suit their requirements. In the form of a six-hour module spread over three days, the training will focus on teaching road safety measure, simulator sessions, personnel management, yoga, meditation and customer service.

Stressing the imperative to maintain high service levels so that passengers were satisfied, she said, “Happy customers will stay longer and spread the message of the great service they get in Puducherry. That will help boost tourism, which is the mainstay of the economy in Puducherry.” Citing her experience from Goa and Delhi in traffic management, the Lt. Governor said that collaborative efforts will be made to improve the passenger experience. As a first step, training on road safety will be organised in consultation with Institute of Road Safety Training Education and Puducherry Traffic Police. Ms. Bedi asked the employees to provide feedback to P. Devarajan, PRTC Managing Director so that course content could be tailored to suit their requirements. Later, at a meeting with PRTC officials, it was decided that the first batch of training (20 drivers and 10 conductors) will be held on April 4. In the form of a six-hour module spread over three days, the training will focus on teaching road safety measure, simulator sessions, personnel management, yoga, meditation and customer service.
