Salem: A prison warder was placed under suspension in Attur in Salem district late Thursday evening.The warder has been identified as P Elango , 45, of Thanjavur district. He was working as a Warder at Attur sub-jail in Salem district. More than 75 accused are lodged at the sub-jail.It is learnt that, Elango allegedly accepted Rs.10,000 to help an inmate get bail. "He had received it from the inmate's relatives," said prison sources. He accepted the money but failed to deliver on his promise.Following this, the prisoner lodged a complaint with prison authorities. Salem Central Prison superintendent M Senthil Kumar interrogated him. During inquiry, it was revealed that Elango had accepted the bribe. Based on the inquiry, the prison superintendent issued suspension order to Elango on Thursday evening.
