Tamil Nadu government seeks a ban on The Family Man 2 for objectionable depiction of 'Eelam Tamils'

Tamil Nadu IT Minister Mano Thangaraj has demanded a ban on the release of The Family Men-2 series to be released on the OTT platform. He requested Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar to either act immediately on it and stop it or prevent it from being released on the OTT platform.

He has written in the letter- I would like to draw your attention to the derogatory content and condemnable Family Men-2 Hindi web series, which has wrongly depicted the warriors of Tamil Eelam. He further said that the purpose of the trailer which was released on social media was “aimed at discrediting and distorting the historical struggle of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.”

The IT Minister of Tamil Nadu further said that the sacrifice in the struggle for democracy is being deliberately reduced. A serial full of insults and insanity should not be considered worthy of broadcasting.

He said that this web series not only hurts the sentiments of the Eelam Tamils but also brings a strong sentiment to the people of Tamil Nadu in large numbers, and if it is allowed to broadcast, it will harm the brotherhood in the state.

Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Akkineni, Priyamani and Sharib Hashmi starrer 'Family Man 2' is directed by Raj and DK together. While its first season was released in 2019, its second season will be available from June 4 on Amazon Prime.
