Chickenpox is a highly infectious airborne disease, that causes itchy blisters and rashes on the skin. Any individual who hasn`t got chicken pox is at high risk of getting the infection and its symptoms range from itchy blisters to fever, and cold, among the others.
This disease is really difficult to go through for children, as well as adults and one should be extremely precautious as such, to avoid a certain amount of risk of getting an infection.
Here are the five steps to prevent this disease from spreading :
1. Vaccination
Vaccines for chicken pox are easily available and one should get it if anyone around them has caught the infection. People who have already had the infection once in life are at a lower risk of getting it again, but there is no compulsion for the same.
2. Do not share towels with the patient
One should not share any products that the person suffering from chicken pox is using – like towels, napkins, soaps, creams, etc. It is to clearly ensure that he or she does not catch such an infection, if not vaccinated.
3. Do not send your children to school
If the disease is quite prevalent according to many health scientists, school authorities should suspend classes for a while and ensure that any infected students do not come to school till the time they are properly treated for the infection.
4. Wear gloves
Always wear gloves to prevent chances of infection getting into you, and dispose them if unused.
5. Use disinfectants
If a family member has the infection, one should use disinfectants on products like doorknobs, drawer handles, etc. to ensure that the virus on them are killed. He/she can use any bleach product, preferably oxygen bleach or hydrogen peroxide.
