Govt directs universities to maintain 60 students per teacher rule

Agra: State universities of UP have been directed to stick to the standard teacher-student ratio of one teacher per 60 pupils for the academic session of 2018-19. Last year, over 400 affiliated colleges didn’t provide details on academic parameters sought by the university administration. According to regulations, vice chancellor of a university has the authority to determine the number of seats for different courses. Universities have also been asked to follow certain norms in admitting students to Science, Commerce and Arts courses. Special secretary of the state government, Madhu Joshi, has sent a letter in this regard to vice chancellors of 28 state universities in UP.In her letter, Joshi has asked all universities and the colleges affiliated to them to maintain the standard student teacher ratio as mentioned in the state university rules and regulations..
