BSA orders probe into functioning of school run by anganwadi worker

Agra: The basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) has ordered an inquiry into the functioning of a school following the complaint of district president of Anganwadi Workers’ Union Savitri Devi, who alleged that an anganwadi worker, who identifies herself as headmistress of the school, was minting money from students by throwing all norms to the air.“Ambedkar Junior School in Ramnagar basti in Lohamandi — of which the anganwadi worker, Nalkesh, is headmistress — has been admitting even three-year-old students and charging exorbitant fees ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000,” claimed Savitri Devi.“The school has one teacher for 80 students, while the Right to Education norms suggest one teacher for only 35 students,” she alleged.“I have urged the BSA to set up an inquiry into the matter..
