Ahmedabad: LPG blast in Shahpur injures 13

AHMEDABAD: As many as 13 persons, including four personnel of Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service (AFES), suffered injuries in a major fire blast in Marwadi Chawl in Shahpur area of the city near Shahpur police chowky on Wednesday evening.Fire erupted after the gas leaking from an LPG cylinder came in contact with a lamp lit in a temple outside the chawl.At around 5.30pm, Chandu Bodana of Marwadi Chawl called up AFES and informed that gas was leaking from the LPG cylinder which he bought two days ago. Suddenly, a blast occurred as the lamp burning in temple outside the chawl caught fire in which all the fire personnel and residents of the chawl suffered severe burns,” said Bodana.This could turn into a major tragedy as there were several eatery outlets on the sides of busy Shahpur road outside the chawl.Now, the locals of the chawl, who were expecting a rescue operation by fire personnel, called up 108 emergency ambulance service to rush fire personnel and other injured persons to hospital..
