Summary:

With over one crore vehicles yet to get the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), the state transport department has directed the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across Gujarat to hold special camps for the same. According to transport department official, around four camps, specifically providing HSRP facilities at various RTO offices across the state, will be held on September 29, October 2, 6 and 13. Apparently, after the amended Motor Vehicle Act came into effect, the government had extended the deadline for HSRP up to October 16. An RTO official said that most of the vehicles, which are yet to get an HSRP, are old vehicles. “All new vehicles are fitted with HSRP as car dealers provide new cars with this facility,” said the official..
