Pagariya foundation to impart life skills among adult orphans

Aurangabad: The city-based NGO Pagariya Foundation has built a residential skill development centre for orphans above 18 years of age to provide them free employement training.In what the facilitators claim to be the first-of-its-kind concept in the state, the Pagariya Foundation has started Mahavir Skill Development Centre at Station Road near the Regional Transport Office.Speaking to newsmen on Monday Pagariya Foundation director Pukhraj Pagariya said that the centre, in its first phase, will admit around 60-70 students for the residential course. “The courses available now include mobile repairing, domestic data entry and automative services and basic computer operations, each of six-month duration. According to social worker Yajurvendra Mahajan, apart from the technical training, the students will be imparted soft skills, given an insight on professional environment and discipline, cultural development, nutrition, physical exercise, family support and spiritual development. The aim is not just to provide them the certificate but to ensure that the students are empowered enough to secure a job or start their own business using the skills obtained. Apart from the residential students, the centre will also admit non-residential students living in the city,” Pagariya said.The centre has established training labs for the different courses with the equipment and material required for training, classroom, residential rooms, a meeting hall and a play area..
