AURANGABAD: The special branch (SB) of the city police has been tasked with keeping an eye on illicit businesses as well as the policemen who shield culprits. The anti-terrorism cell too acts under the special branch here.When contacted, special branch senior inspector Sheshrao Udar confirmed the move but refused to elaborate, saying that it was purely an internal matter. The special branch acts as an independent intelligence gathering wing and is exempted from wearing uniform during duty hours and it is considered a side posting. This is for the first time that the SB would be seen in action against criminals and miscreants.
