Summary:

Aurangabad: The confusion around the establishment of a proposed maternity and child health (MCH) wing at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was cleared up following the visit of the district guardian minister Deepak Sawant on Monday, said GMCH dean Kanan Yelikar on Tuesday.During the meeting with the minister, the GMCH brought up the issue of the MCH wing. Incidentally, the MCH wing was initially proposed within the GMCH premises and the maps for the same had been approved by Yelikar. MGM has established a model 100-bed MCH wing at Sewagram in Wardha. Subsequently, the public welfare department has issued a NOC to demolish the old wards to pave way for the construction of the MCH wing at GMCH. This is why we should get the MCH wing,” Yelikar said in a letter to Sawant. The MCH wing is a project of the National Health Mission’s (NHM) comprehensive reproductive, maternal, newborn and child and adolescent health (RMNCH+A)..
