Two Kashmiri students at IVRI put on ‘probation’ for derogatory posts against Army

The order of conduct probation was passed on Tuesday.Under the conduct probation, the students will not represent the institute in any event -- sports, cultural or other contests -- in or outside the institute. Bareilly: Two Kashmiri students at Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) have been put on “conduct probation” and their monthly fellowship stopped after the duo allegedly posted what authorities claimed were “derogatory remarks against the Indian Army” on WhatsApp. It is an act of indiscipline as per the Regulations for Student’s Conduct and Discipline, 2017.”The students had posted the alleged messages on February 16, following which the student’s union lodged a complaint with the institute’s authorities. They will lose any office that they may be holding in any students' council. An order issued by IVRI authorities said, “On the recommendation of the standing committee on students’ welfare, problems and discipline of ICAR-IVRI and as approved by the competent authority, two students have been placed on conduct probation for the remaining degree programme for posting electronic messages defaming the Armed Forces..
