CET to go online; no clarity on rollout yet

BENGALURU: GT Devegowda minister for higher education , on Wednesday said the government will conduct the common entrance test (CET) for engineering seats online . The government conducts CET every year for nearly 1.8 lakh students who intend pursuing engineering courses or graduation in agriculture science or pharmacy.“We intend to take all competitive examinations conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) online,” the minister said.“As part of this effort, we will conduct CET online from next year.” The minister did not clarify whether CET will be conducted online from 2019 or 2020. Each paper is for a total 60 marks.If the move comes to fruition, CET will join the ranks of other competitive examinations like NEET (medical) and JEE (IITs) at the undergraduate level and CAT (MBAs) and other competitive examinations at the postgraduate level which are conducted online. There was also no clarity whether students will have to appear for the exam at designated centres, cybercafes or from their homes..
