USTTAD helps city’s ‘batua’ go global

A three-piece ensemble - kurta, farshi paijama and a decorative zardozi batua -- the small string purse with rust and golden weaves fabric with contrast of subtly soft velvet is the way to be.Bhopal’s batua, an art of royal origin – considered on the verge of extinction is getting a new lease of life.National Institute of Fashion Technology ( NIFT ) is training skilled young women in design which is involved in the hand craft, at a workshop organised in Gandhi Bhawan in Bhopal under the USTTAD scheme of Union government.The fortnight long training aims at preserving the rich heritage of the traditional art and capacity building of the artisans..
