Chandigarh: Bomb shell found at dumping ground

CHANDIGARH: Panic gripped workers of Daddumajra dumping ground as a bomb shell was found at the site on Monday. On checking the spot, the squad found an empty bomb shell of 40 mm.The bomb squad officials ruled that the bomb shell was very old and might have been used here by the Army even before Chandigarh was formed.The team took the empty bomb shell with them and informed that the empty bomb shell was not dangerous to anyone.DSP Pawan Kumar said, “It is an old empty shell, the kind which have been recovered in the past too. However, the bomb squad on its visit to the spot said that the bomb shell was very old and didn’t pose a threat to anybody.As per the information given by DSP Pawan Kumar, they received a phone call around 12pm from the workers of the dumping ground regarding a bomb shell being spotted in the garbage at the site.A police team along with a bomb squad headed by the DSP (security) and Maloya SHO rushed to the spot. It does not pose a threat to anyone.
