Stubble burning cases on rise in Mohali

Several farmers have been burning stubble in their fields at various locations across the district. Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said the administration had detected 56 sites of stubble burning in the district during the current season. “All incidents shall be verified through field teams and environment compensation shall be imposed wherever violations are confirmed,” the Deputy Commissioner said. “An anti-stubble burning campaign is being carried out in the district to stop the menace,” he said and added that the administration would constitute village-level teams to keep strict vigil on the incidents of stubble burning..
