The Greater Chennai Corporation is building a drinking water outlet on 10th Main Road in Ashok Nagar, in a move to supplement the supply of water through pipes and tankers by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. According to Corporation officials, more than 15,000 households will benefit from the Ashok Nagar facility which is expected to open in a month’s time. A family is allowed to take up to 20 litres of water every day without paying any fee, the civic officials say. Private firms were roped in to supply water to these outlets every day.
