Now ‘protest’ petitions against property deals need evidence

more-inThe Tamil Nadu Registration Department has slammed the brakes on ‘protest’ petitions filed during property transactions, to put an end to a lobby allegedly working to make money by filing such petitions. “There is a lobby of advocates in cahoots with some sub-registrars who file such protest petitions, blocking the buying or selling of a property. “When the protest petitions are filed, since it is under the rules, some officers might block the registration. There are cases where properties have been registered though the protest petitions have been filed, but the case is kept pending,” the source added. “This circular has to be followed, and those who do not follow this, will be chargesheeted,” the source said..
