CHENNAI: The mother of Rajiv Gandhi assassination life convict Nalini Sriharan has approached the Madras high court seeking to save her daughter and son-in-law Murugan , who are currently observing an indefinite hunger strike in Vellore Central Prison demanding their and five other convicts’ early release.Moving the plea as a habeas corpus petition, Nalini's mother S Padma wanted the government to take immediate steps and save her daughter and her husband who are on a fast unto death.According to Naini's lawyer P Pugazhendi, they had decided to go on a hunger strike as Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit was yet to respond to the state cabinet’s resolution in September recommending the release of the seven life convicts in the case..
