After this security alert, the state police and central intelligence agencies have increased vigil in the area.

According to intelligence sources, a boat carrying armed groups is moving towards the Rameswaram coast.

An alert was issued by a Central intelligence agency on Saturday evening and the police have stepped up vigil in the towns of Kanyakumari, Toothukudi, Rameswaram, as well as in Chennai.

However, sources have told a news agency that along with the exact identity of these people, it is not known what kind of organization these people are associated with.

A senior police officer of the state police headquarters in Chennai told a news agency that yes, the vigil has been increased in Tamil Nadu, but I cannot say anything more at the moment

We have deployed armed policemen on all the main roads leading to the coastal areas of the state.

Sources said that with the police intensifying security measures, more navigable ships have also been deployed at sea by Coast Guard patrol units to thwart any attempt to reach the Tamil Nadu coast.

Intelligence sources in the Kerala Police have indicated that they have also increased vigil in the coastal towns of the state following inputs from the agencies.
