Incessant rainfall affects life in Ooty, Gudalur

Udhagamandalam: Normal life in the Nilgiris, particularly in Ooty and Gudalur taluks , was disrupted as incessant rainfall and gusty winds uprooted trees and cut-off power supply in several places in the past two days.Road blocks, owing to landslips, interrupted traffic between Ooty and Gudalur and in many other artery roads in the town. However, traffic was blocked for more than eight hours on the Ooty-Gudalur road as a huge boulder had rolled down on the road near Thavalaimalai, on Thursday. The operation took nearly eight hours,” added the official.At Kil-Nadukani in Gudalur taluk, 5km away from the Kerala border, the road has been reported cracked.
