CBI raids premises of Rourkela Steel Plant officers, businessmen

ROURKELA: A CBI team from Bhubaneswar conducted raids on the house of a deputy general manager of Rourkela Steel Plant , the home of a retired executive director of RSP, the residence of a retired RSP officer and offices of two local businessman on Friday. The raids were conducted after irregularities in awarding a tender to a private business house was detected, said an official source.A source said a 17-member CBI team from Bhuabaneswar reached Rourkela and raided multiple locations. An amount of Rs 1 lakh, which he had allegedly received from one business house, was seized then. Separate CBI teams conducted raids.Although, CBI officials refused to divulge the details of the raids, a source in CBI said that the raid is related to previous raid on the house of former RSP executive director (works) B P Verma on August 8, 2017.Verma was arrested by CBI on January 8, 2017, on graft charges, from his official residence at Rourkela..
