Forest Training Institute to plant Chinar trees across Uttarakhand

NAINITAL: The research wing of the Forest Training Institute, Haldwani has come up with nurseries of Chinar trees (Platanus orientalis) to be planted in selected tourist locations such as Mussoorie, Lansdowne Munsyari , Ranikhet among some others, across the state. Around 700 to 1000 saplings will be planted at these locations in the initial phase to make the tourist spots more attractive. At present, only a small stretch in Mall Road of Nainital town has these trees.The project started last year and officials said that nurseries have been set up for this purpose in Ranikhet and Almora districts..
