A parent on condition of anonymity said, “The packet read: Pizza with pepperoni made with pork, chicken and beef. Rudrapur: The District Program Officer (DPO) of US Nagar on Monday ordered an inquiry after supplementary nutritional items in packets labelled pork, chicken and beef were distributed to malnourished children at an anganwadi centre in Udham Singh Nagar. Mishra said that three children out of 55 were given food in such packets.Giving details, Mishra said that each anganwadi centre in the district is paid quarterly for providing monthly supplementary nutrition at the rate of Rs 200 per child. “A complaint has been filed at Dineshpur police station against the SHG,” Mishra said.Dineshpur SHO, Kunwar Singh Rawat, said, “No FIR has not been registered but we will investigate the matter.” The packages have been sent to the food testing laboratory in Rudrapur “A team constituted by the anganwadi centre buys the food usually from a departmental store or from a self-help group (SHG),” he said, adding that in this case, a self-help group had supplied the packets.The SHG is registered under the rural development department but it has now been blacklisted..
