SC to hear plea on anti-encroachment drive today

Additional chief secretary and nodal officer to implement the order, Om Prakash, said that after Monday's drive, a total of 1,566 illegal encroachments have been demolished, 4,340 identified and 88 building have been sealed. Following which, it was decided to approach the apex court for more time on ground that administrative officials and employees are busy in relief operations due to the heavy rains.Meanwhile, the demolition drive continued on Monday under which 76 encroachments were demolished and 240 were marked.
