Slums in Doon battling rain, sanitation problems

The slums near the Bhagat Singh Colony and under the Bindal bridge — Bindal Basti — witnessed severe flooding last week leading to the death of a few people.Pooja Kumari, a resident of one of the slums, said, “The only earning member of our family drowned in the flood. Municipal health officer RK Singh, when queried on the matter, said, “We are aware about the situation in the colony, and will be taking appropriate action in this regard soon.”The fear of being swept away by torrential rains also haunts the slum dwellers ..
