Allegations of another scam hit NH74 project probe on

Summary:

Nainital: As probe continues into the Rs 300 crore NH-74 land acquisition scam, another fraud has come to haunt the project. This included shifting of electric poles and putting in place underground lines to facilitate widening of the national highway. Irregularities to the tune of Rs 60 crore have been found in electrification work carried out by a Kanpur-based private firm. The inquiry in Lalpur, Kichha and Bajpur at NH-74 revealed that old poles and cables were shifted instead of replacing them with new ones.”The representatives of the Kanpur-based firm were not available for comment.
