Dehradun: Graphic Era University awarded honorary degrees to Dronacharya awardee Mahavir Phogat and Supreme Court lawyer and Padma Shri awardee MC Mehta during its 9th convocation held here on Saturday.Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Anil D Sahasrabudhe, who was the chief guest, honoured both of them for their exemplary service.A total of 27 students from the field of engineering, management and biotechnology were awarded PhD during the convocation ceremony. Apart from this 2,103 students were awarded post-graduation degrees.During his convocation address Sahasrabudhe said the AICTE also put forward seven proposals for the overall development of the university.“These include industry linkages, research and innovation, establishing national and International networks, enhanced involvement of alumni, making institute facilities available to students round the clock, establishing more engagement clubs for students and sensitizing them towards the needs of the society,” he said.Commonwealth games gold medalist Babita Phoghat was made the sports ambassador of Graphic Era University..
