Uttarakhand HC dismisses bail plea in transgender rape case

The woman is contesting a case against her then fiancé who allegedly raped her in Kotdwar, Pauri district after which she approached the court.She has also filed complaints with National Commission of Women and Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission. Nainital: Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday dismissed petition of Parikshit Arvind Joshi, an accused seeking anticipatory bail in transgender rape case.In January 2019, the woman had approached the high court with a complaint following which, the HC asked the state home secretary, director general of police, investigation officer in the case and Pauri senior superintendent of police to submit replies.Earlier, in February 2019, the HC asked the respondents who failed to file their replies within two weeks. The court also directed the investigating officer of the case to be present.The 27-year-old man who changed his sex and is now a woman has approached the offices of Vice-president and President of India in January 2019 alleging that police is not registering an FIR against a lawyer who insulted her in open court.The woman has also written to the office of the President stating that constitutional machinery has failed in Uttarakhand requesting imposition of President’s rule in the state.The office of the President has referred the matter to union ministry of justice..
