Complaint against senior citizen association for trying to take over rooms in school

Mussoorie: The staff of a government school at Camels Back Road in Mussoorie filed a complaint with the police on Friday alleging that a senior citizen association ‘illegally’ acquired two rooms of the school.The school staff alleged that the association had broken their locks and replaced them with new ones.“We came to know that the senior citizen association had put their own locks on two rooms of the school,” said Liladhar Joshi, principal of the school.Meanwhile, speaking to mediapersons, N.K. According to the school authorities, the rooms were earlier used as a library. However, owing to leakage in the roof, the rooms were shut down. Sahni, secretary of the senior citizen association, said they wanted to take the possession the two rooms as they were not being used by the school for a long time, and added that they wanted to establish a naturopathy and yoga centre there.“For us, the education of children is of utmost priority and these rooms were given to us by the chairman of municipal council (MC) with the understanding that they were not being used by the school,” Sahni said.However, after opposition from school authorities, concerned ward member and residents, the possession of the rooms were handed back to the school.The said school has 84 students, studying from class I to VIII..
