Shahberi NDRFs 66hr rescue operation ends

NOIDA: The National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF ) completed 66-hour rescue operation at 4.30pm on Friday, four days after it was called in after the Shahberi building collapse . The officials of Police and District Administration reached the spot and informed NDRF to conduct rescue operation. The NDRF team arrived at 10:30pm and conducted the exercise, but they could not rescue anyone alive.NDRF team comprised of nine senior officials, including three doctors, 21 junior officials, 170 jawans, 8 dogs, 16 vehicles, etc. NDRF 8th Battalion’s rescue operation was the third longest after its operations in Kedarnath and Nepal earthquakes.P K Srivastava, commandant, NDRF, said that a report will be submitted to the headquarter about the rescue operation.The police had booked 24 persons and arrested five accused in connection with the incident. The NDRF teams conducted rescue operation day and night and recovered nine bodies – six males, two females and one 1.5-year-old baby girl,” the NDRF said in a statement.The incident took place at 9:46pm on Tuesday night when a six-storey under-construction building collapsed on adjacent six-story building, leading to a complete fall..
