NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has initiated a probe into the mysterious calls made to the Chief Justices of the Karnataka and Telangana high courts by a man posing as the private secretary of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi. Posing as the CJI’s private secretary, H K Juneja, the man requested Chief Justice Swamy to send the names of certain advocates to the CJI’s office for their elevation as high court judges. Two days later, Swamy received another call with the same request. This time, the man posing as Juneja even pretended to connect the call to a person who posed as the CJI himself and made the same request. In this case, the number allegedly belonged to the Supreme Court exchange, prompting the police to probe if SC’s EPBAX system was hacked or misused to make the call. The first call was made to Karnataka high court Chief Justice L Narayana Swamy. The Supreme Court itself is also probing the matter. The police said they would question the lawyers whose names were recommended. In the meantime, all high court judges have been asked not to entertain any such call even if the caller claims to be from the office of the Chief Justice of India..
