Fire at furniture market near Metro station

New Delhi, june 21A major fire broke out on Friday at a furniture market spread over 2,000 square yards, near Kalindi Kunj Metro station. The DMRC authorities suspended Metro services on a section of the Magenta Line for nearly four hours, officials said. Since the flames were reaching the corridor, Metro was run on short loops for some time between Janakpuri West and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh till normal services were resumed, the DMRC official said. The fire officials said flames from the blaze had spread to pillars number 205 and 206 so the Metro officials were alerted to carry out a thorough check to ensure public safety. In all, 70 firefighters and officials of the police, Delhi Fire Services and DMRC carried out the operation..
