Rs 20 lakh released for Ghaziabad’s Phase 3 metro

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has released Rs 20 lakh to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for preparing a revised detailed project report (DPR) for extending the Noida Electronic City-Sahibabad metro route to Mohan Nagar under the phase 3 project. According to the initial DPR, the estimated cost of the Noida Electronic City-Sahibabad line was Rs1,926 crore, which is now bound to go up in revised DPR. The total cost of the projects has been pegged at Rs 3,711 crore. The DMRC has been asked to submit the DPR by February.The DMRC had demanded Rs 20 lakh more from GDA for preparing the revised DPR after the development authority decided to extend the metro line up to Mohan Nagar — increase of the original route by 2km — from the earlier plan to connect Noida Electronic City with Sahibabad.“The GDA has already paid DMRC Rs 34 lakh for the purpose and new rates levied by DMRC has increased the DPR cost from Rs 1.09 crore to Rs 1.29 crore,” sources said.TOI has learnt that after receiving the revised DPR, GDA will send it to state government for its approval, where in all likelihood it will be decided to take up work on 7.11km Noida Electronic City to Mohan Nagar route first.The DMRC had in February submitted its first DPR for two metro extension projects — the other being Vaishali to Sahibabad..
