12,000 buyers in distress, Ghaziabad Development Authority sends names to Rera for panel

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority has finalised an 11-member conciliation forum as mandated by the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-Rera) to settle disputes between builders and homebuyers in the city. “A mutually agreed date will be fixed for the developer and the homebuyer to appear before the 11-member forum in their respective jurisdiction. The decision of the forum will be binding on both the parties,” the OSD said.Builders’ body has welcomed the initiative. In Ghaziabad, about 12,000 buyers are currently entangled in disputes with developers.Officials said the forum comprises five members each from residents’ welfare associations and builders’ body Credai and one member from GDA. Kumar of Fed AOA, said, “The forum will provide the much-needed relief to homebuyers.”.
