PANAJI: The government may consider retendering of supply of digital taxi meters as it is looking at adopting the Bureau of India Standards. The meters were sent for testing at the international centre for automotive technology (ICAT) in Gurugram, Haryana, with the government stating that more time was required to complete the tests. The court has passed a number of orders drawing the attention of the state to the long-pending issue and is urging it to take expeditious steps to fit meters. The advocate general told the court that a meeting between ICAT and the government to expedite the matter has taken place.The high court in June requested the ICAT to personally look into the matter and extend all cooperation to furnish reports on the testing of the meters as early as possible.
