School girls get tips on menstrual hygiene

GURUGRAM: The women and child development department of Haryana and School of Life Foundation have started interactive workshops in government schools to educate girls on menstrual hygiene and urinary tract infection.The first workshop was held at Government Senior Secondary School, Jacobpura, on Tuesday. We also taught them ways to make cotton sanitary pads at home.”The paricipants were asked to assesss the session by filling up a questionnaire before and after the session. During the workshop, girls shared their experiences with experts who tried to bust myths related to menstruation Gunjan Gehlot, the chief minister’s good governance associate, said several myths, such as girls should not go to the temple or open pickle jars or take head baths during menstruation etc were combated with sound reasoning.Sunaina Khatri, project officer, Integrated Child Development Services , said, “Girls from classes 5 to 11 were educated about the harmful effects of ignoring hygiene during menstruation..
