Summary:

AMBALA: The district administration inspected the ongoing development works related to the problem of flooding in different villages of Ambala on Tuesday. Deputy commissioner (DC) Sharandeep Kaur Brar said, “The inspection was to check the speed of the development works as earlier the rainwater had caused inconveniences to district villagers and also the crops of the farmers were damaged due to the waterlogging into the fields. The senior officials checked the under-construction drains in various villages and discussed how to provide relief to the villagers from this problem. These development works are being carried out by the departments of irrigation and public health. It is noteworthy that in the month of October 2018, nearly 75 per cent of the paddy crop in about 146 villages of the district was damaged due to rain and flood water which entered the agricultural fields. I have instructed the concerned officials to increase the speed of the works.”The officials inspected the already built drains on the national highways, which are filled with mud and DC instructed the concerned officials to get those cleaned in time. The district officials said that for the development of drains some land of the villages would be acquired.DC Brar talked to residents of village Kesri and Landa and asked them to support the officials of the irrigation department in developing the drainages so the farmers’ problem of waterlogging into the agricultural fields during the rainy season could be resolved permanently and their crops would be saved from damage..
