Assam BJP MP blames 'particular community' for majority of rapes in state

There is a need for stringent law which can effectively work as deterrent against rapes, she added.“Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s government is working on a strong law to curb crimes against women. In Dhubri, about 300 km from here, a 24-year old Nurjamal was arrested while trying to rape a minor on Thursday. It’s not a matter of politicizing the crime against women,” Chakraborty said.She said it is a matter of serious concern that incidents of rape are on the rise in the state along with other parts of the country.
