Gauhati High Court quashes school SI gradation list

Staff ReporterGUWAHATI: Justice Kateswar Singh of the Gauhati High Court has set aside and quashed the impugned final gradation list of November 10, 2017 and directed the authorities of the Elementary Education Department to prepare a fresh gradation list as per the mandates given on May 9, 2000. With this the High Court disposed of the WP(c) No.7460 of 2017 jointly filed by Silchar SI Bishwajit Dey and Nagaon SI Pranab Kumar Bora challenging the final gradation list of November 10, 2017 meant for the incumbent for the post of SI of Schools published by the Director of Elementary Education, Assam. 7460 of 2017 jointly filed by Bishwajit Dey, SI of Schools of Silchar and Pranab Kumar Bora, SI of Schools of Nagaon. The judgment of May 9, 2000 of the High Court passed in CR No.4682 of 1998 mandates that the gradation list for the post of SI of Schools has to be prepared on the basis of merit of the individual at the entry level in service.
